The lawmaker representing Cross River Central senatorial district at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Eteng Williams has donated educational materials worth millions of naira to indigent students in 40 secondary schools across three local government areas of Yakurr, Abi and Obubra in the senatorial district.

The items donated to students in the three local government areas of Abi, Yakurr and Obubra include, school bags, books, electronic calculators, mathematical sets, and several teachers’ aides delivered to the secondary school students and head teachers.

Distributing the learning materials to the beneficiaries at Community Primary School, Itigidi, the lawmaker stated that the items will go a long way to boost the capacities of students and increased their academic performance.

Representing the lawmaker, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and former chairman of Ikom Local Goveenment Area, Mr. Ayiba Ojong, stated that the lawmaker decided to donate the items to the school children to encourage education in the senatorial district, given the fact that education remains the bedrock of societal growth.

He said, “With education, the constituency can become better than what it was. With education the fortunes of the constituency can be turned around.”

In his remarks, a beneficiary of the items in Obubra Local Government Area, Mr. Sam Ovat, lauded the lawmaker for the assistance, describing him as a performer whose ears are always open to listen to the yearnings of his people.

The benefitting schools include, Bahamono Secondary Grammar School, Ebom, PCN, Ekureku, Community Primary School, Itigidi, all in Abi Local Government Area.

From Yakurr Local Government were Primary School, Agoi Ibami, Secondary School Mkpani, Community Secondary School, Ugep; and from Obubra Local Government were Community Secondary School, Apiapum, St. Patrick Primary School, Iyamoyong, Community Primary School, Ofumbongha No 1, among many others.
