The All Orogresssives Congress, APC, has been declared winner of all the 18 local government council chairmanship positions across the 18 local government areas of the state.
APC candidates also won all the councillorship positions across the 196 wards across the three senatorial districts of the state Saturday, November 2 local council polls.
Those who emerged as winners for the council chairmanship positions across the 18 local government council areas include three women and 15 men.
Announcing the results of the elections, the chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission, CROSIEC, Dr. Ekong Boco, congratulated the newly-elected council chairmen for their victory.
Handing over to the winners their certificates of return, Nico reminded them of their primary responsibilities of keeping to their campaign promises, advising them not to renege on any of their promises to the electorate.
Reacting to the victory, the newly-elected chairperson of lkom Local Government Area, Mrs. Mercy Nsor, pledged to use her wealth of experience gained over the years to bring transformation to the council area.
Nsor averred that with the abundant human and material resources within the council area, turning around the fortunes of the local council won’t be a problem.
Also speaking, the chairman-elect for Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State, Henry Anom, stated that his wealth of experience gained in the private sector, would be channeled into developing the council area, promising to make every impossibility become possibility.
In his own reaction, the Also chairman-elect for Akamkpa Local Government Area, Mr. Felix Akposi, stressed that the abundant human and natural resources deposits in the council area is an added advantage that places him in a position to transform the council area without hitch.
He said, “My plan for agricultural revolution is enough to turn around the fortunes of the council area.
‘I will revive Akamkpa’s rich agricultural history, focusing on reactivating and modernizing farming in the area.”
