An Osun State-based businessman and hotelier, Ramon Adedoyin, has been sentenced to death over the 2021 mysterious murder of a student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Mr. Timothy Adegoke.
Handing down the verdict on Tuesday, Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo, who presided over the case said that Adedoyin, who is also the founder of Oduduwa University, Ile Ife, is to be hanged.
Recall that Timothy Adegoke, an Abuja-based chattered accountant, had arrived at Adedoyin’s hotel, for preparation for his examination as a student of Masters of Business Administration, MBA, of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife in 2021.
Adegoke, a father of two, who hailed from Eruwa in Oyo State, was however unreachable again after checking into the Hiton Hotel, owned by Adedoyin.
His bloodied remains were however discovered in a shallow grave in a forest not far away from the hotel by men of the Osun State Command of the Nigerian Police Force.
Justice Ojo, while sentencing Adedoyin to death by hanging, also ordered that the children of the late Adegoke must be trained to the university level from the estate belonging to the convicted businessman.
Others who were dragged to court over the murder include: Adedeji Adesola, Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwale Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem and Adebayo Kunle.
