As the campaign towards the 2023 general election progresses, an Egba High Chief in Ogun State, Otunbalaje Adejare Adegbenro, has commenced mobilization of support for the presidential candidate of the all Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
The rationale behind the mobilisation is that Adegbenro sees Asiwaju Tinubu as, “the presidential candidate among the multitude who the cap fits.”
In an interaction withe media on Tuesday in Abuja, the high chief explained that “the reason I throw my weight behind him is borne out of the conviction that he has paid his dues as a tested and trusted achiever, with track record of pro-democracy activism.”
Adegbenro, a grandson of the late Chief Alfred Rewane reminded that “he (Tinubu) was in the trenches alongside my grandfather during the period of the National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, of which my grandfather, Pa Alfred Rewane was the financier.”
Chief Adegbenro, who is also the grandson of the late Premier of the defunct Western Region, Chief Dauda Soroye Adegbenro, the Balogun of Owuland, on the paternal side, further asserted that “it is an undeniable fact that Asiwaju Tinubu is well prepared for the presidential project,” warning that “it would be a political and democratic suicide to hand over power to a green horn after the completion of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure on May 29, 2023.
He said with all emphasis he could muster, “Nigeria has come thus far and so it is high time we voted the tested and trusted leader, the one with track record and unparalleled achievements, who would not abandon the people after victory. We should vote Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC for President, because a vote for him is a vote for a man with the Midas touch.”
It was against this background that, the security expert and political activist therefore called on all well-meaning Nigerians to support the presidential ambition of Tinubu by voting for him and his party overwhelmingly, believing that “Tinubu is the most competent candidate out of the lot with the Midas touch to move Nigeria forward towards the Promised Land.”
Sounding amoye of warning, Adegbenro admonished Nigerians to “get it right this time, so as not allow the good work already done by President Buhari be jeopardised,” trusting Tinubu to deliver if the Presidency of the country is handed over to him in May, 2023.
