Stakeholders of the Labour Party, LP, in Cross River State have asked embattled state party chairman, Mr. Ogar Osim, not to parade himself any longer as state party chairman or be ready to contend with the stakeholders.

The stakeholders gave the charge during the formal presentation of the new caretaker committee to party members on Wednesday in Calabar.

The new state caretaker chairman of the LP in the state, Comrade John Ushie, PhD, averred that the embattled chairman’s tenure had expired, asking Osim to quit so that peace can return to the party.

The former chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in Cross River State stressed that Ogar lacked the moral justification to claim that he is still in charge, even when his tenure had elapsed.

He said, “As a party, we cannot allow one person who is bent on pulling down the roof of the party for selfish and parochial interest.

“The good news is that we have been able to put an end to their evil schemes to thwart any further damage, for every evil has an expiring date.

“I want to use this opportunity to advise all and sundry that anyone who engages in doing any business as it concerns party issues with Osim is doing so at their peril.

“Ogar Osim was a product of the Abure’s accidental leadership that have since expired in June 2024 and the recent non-recognition of his exco by INEC is testimony that they are history of inglorious past marking the darkest period of Labour Party.

“They fed so fat from last elections and don’t want to leave office, failing to know their offices are tenure bound.”

A party stalwart who doubles as Youth Leader in Ward 6, Olulumo ward, Okuni Ikom Local Government Area of the state, Mr.Odey Nyambi, accused Osim of having penchant for suspending people from the party during the period when he served as party chairman.

But in a swift reaction to his removal from office, the embattled state party chairman Osim described those pursuing him away from office as impostors, calling for through investigation of the Ushie-led group, claiming he is still in charge at the helms of affairs of Labour Party in Cross River State, and no other person.
