It was a day of mixed results for Team Ogun at the ongoing National Youth Games tagged ‘Asaba 2024,’ as they had success in some games and faltered in others.

Team Ogun claimed the first gold medal of the Games, courtesy Abdulrasaq Abolaji in Floor Artistic Gymnastics, followed by another gold best all round in artistic gymnastics and one bronze in pommel horse.

Shooting event of the 8th National Youth Games eventually came to an end with Team Ogun recorded 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medal.

Atinuke Onabiyi won Gold in Female 10m Air Rifle for Team Ogun on Sunday in Shooting, which qualified her to represent the national team at next year’s Olympics.

The team also excelled in shooting event with another three gold in Mixed Rifle Event.

Onabiyi Atinuke Imoleayo, who set a new National Record Shooter of 502.1 finally delivered another Gold medal to Ogun State with Idowu Tobiloba.

With the exceptional performance of Team Ogun shooters, all the three Ogun State Shooters have been invited by the Nigeria Shooting Sports Federation, NSSF.

In athletics, the mixed 4×400m team won bronze medal, while the male 100m team also won bronze medals.

It was not a good outing for the table tennis teams as they lost in both the male and female doubles.

The male team of Mubarak Balogun and Roqeed Bisiriyu lost to Oyo State, while the female team lost to Delta State.

Just like their National Team at the Paralympics, the Para-Table Tennis team won 2 silver and 1 bronze medals for Ogun State.

Raji Aisha won 2 silver medals in girls single and girls mixed double, while Tobi Ogunyemi in the boy’s single.

Adams Makareem closed the medals table with one silver on Monday at Strokeplay event for Golf.
