The South-South zonal President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAAPS, Hon. Reuben Ikponmwen Ekhosuchi, on Tuesday in Calabar, inaugurated a 9-man state executive council led by Mr. Godwin Okwu, KSM, as president of NAAPS in Cross River State.
The zonal President called for peace and unity of the association in order to form a strong, united and indivisible entity,1 if the newly inaugurated executive is eager to lift the association to enviable pedestal.
Ekhosuchi said, “Build on the achievement of your predecessors to enhance quality education, foster collaboration and unity among members.
“Advocates policies that will benefit our students.
“Your leadership is crucial in shaping the future of education in Cross River State. I charge you all to work with the stakeholders, listen to their concerns. Provide innovative solutions to challenges facing our sector.”
In his post-inauguration speech, Cross River NAAPS President, Mr. Godwin Okwu, assured the people of his preparedness and commitment to lead with open door transparency and accountability in order to take NAAPS to an enviable height.
He said, “I want your support, with you, the sky is our limit. Let’s work as a team, with team work we can add our quota towards the upliftment of the educational sector in the state and the nation at large.
“My team and I have plans to reposition the NAAPS, put the association in the right perspective.
“Besides, we need a secretariat, because as an association, we can’t afford to function without a secretariat. An association of this magnitude cannot be run without a secretariat.
“We are going to partner the state government in that regard for the development of the sector.
“There should be a genuine partnership with the state government if we are to move forward.”
Speaking on behalf of the NAAPS Stakeholders, a teacher, Mike Abolade, stated that with a befitting secretariat, the leadership of the association would be in a proper position to initiate ideas that can contribute meaningfully towards the development of the educational sector.
