A Federal University of Environmental Technology has berthed in Ogoniland, in Rivers State as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially signed into law a bill establishing the institution.
The development came in the heels of a crucial meeting between the President and leaders of Ogoniland at the Presidential Villa on January 21.
The President had emphasized during the meeting the importance of unity and reconciliation, urging the Ogoni people to set aside historical grievances and work collaboratively towards peace, development, and environmental restoration.
President Tinubu stated, “We cannot in any way rewrite history, but we can correct some anomalies of the past going forward. We cannot heal the wounds if we continue to be angry.”
The newly established institution, located in Ogoni, Rivers State, is expected to focus on environmental studies, sustainable development, and innovative technologies aimed at addressing ecological challenges.
