Lectures at the University of Cross River State, UNICROSS, have protested over the non-payment of six months’ palliative by the management of the institution.

One of the aggrieved lecturers who preferred anonymity accused the institution’s management of denying the lecturers the monthly N10,000 approved by the Cross River State government for workers in the state.

The lecturers, who came out in large number chanted slogans that sounded as if the school was in a war-torn situation,.

In their slogans such as ‘We want our money,’ ‘The money is here,’ ‘No pay no work,’ ‘We say no to mini-buses,’ the academic dons stormed the administrative block of the institution and demanded to be addressed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. David Ogar.

When the VC failed to show up to address the protesting lecturers, they proceeded and stormed Prof Ogar’s office.

The protesting lecturers querried management’s decision to divert their palliative for procurement of mini-buses, stressing that the decision was completely inhumane.

Addressing the protesting lecturers, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Ogar, urged the protesters to exercise patience, as management would heed to their cry.

The VC pledged to address the abnormalty by kick-starting the payment with three months and defray the balance by the end of two week.
