The Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State on Corporate Affairs, Hon Fancy Jimoh Tiamiyu, has congratulated the governor, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the November 11, 2023 governorship election, on his triumphant outing at the Supreme Court.
The apex court on Friday, laid to rest the legal tussle over the Kogi State gubernatorial seat when it validated Ododo’s mandate as the duly elected governor of the state.
The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Muritala Ajaka and his party, had gone to the highest court in the land to challenge the ruling of the Appeal Court which affirmed the verdict of the tribunal that upheld Ododo’s victory at the poll.
However, the five-member panel of justices of the Supreme Court, in a unanimous ruling, endorsed the concurrent judgments of the tribunal and the appellate court, and dismissed the appeal filed by the SDP candidate for lacking in merit.
Tiamiyu, in a statement issued on Saturday, described the judgement of the Supreme Court as a welcome development for the entire people of Kogi State who had come out en masse in the last Kogi gubernatorial election to massively vote for the candidature of Alhaji Ododo, a man they strongly believed, has the capacity to reposition the state for greatness.
He said, “I join millions of the admirers and lovers of the humane, humble, God-fearing and gentleman politician, our amiable and dear governor, my boss and leader, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to express my deep joy over his well deserved victory at the Supreme Court. I congratulate the governor on the outcome of the judgement that went in his favour.
“In actual sense, the judgement was not unexpected because Governor Ododo clearly and convincingly won the guber election held on November 11, 2023.
“Kogites settled for him in an election that was widely acknowledged as transparent, free, fair and credible, due to the confidence and trust they have in him as a man who has all it takes to guarantee good governance and the delivery of democracy dividends.
“Therefore, there was no way anybody would have expected that the judiciary/court of law which is the beacon of hope for the people, temple of justice and defender of democracy, would quash the legitimate mandate of the performing governor of Kogi State.”
He noted that Kogites will stand to benefit greatly from the developmental strides of Ododo, adding that he would end up being the best governor the state has ever had from the way he has started, with an unprecedented record of achievements within six months of mounting the saddle.
He said the governor has demonstrated that he was determined to ensure an overall development of the state down to the grassroots level, with his recent appointment of aides and assistants to serve as the representatives of government in the various wards and local governments.
The special adviser urged all and sundry in the state, including members of the opposition, to join hands with the governor and work with his administration to bring about the needed transformation he is striving to achieve for Kogi.
