Youths in Nasarawa State on Wednesday presented six demands to the state governor, Abdullahi Sule, as they joined other youths nation-wide to celebrate this year’s youth day.
Presenting their demands, spokesperson of Nasarawa youths, Idris Ojoko, said the demands, if considered, would go along way in addressing so many challenges confronting the youth in the state.
The demands include a bill for the establishment of a youth commission in Nasarawa State, continuous engagement of youth in activities of governance, adequate budgetary allocation to the youth sector and approval of a summit that will bring youth together to discuss issues affecting them in state.
Other demands were resources and privileges meant for the youths empowerement development should be properly channeled to youth organization and the state government making provision of monthly stipend to the office of the youth organization to run their office.
Ojoko, who doubles as chairman of the Nasarawa State chapter of the Nigeria Youth Council, said the march to Government House was to present their demands to the governor for consideration.
The deputy governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, who received the youth on behalf of the governor, said he was going to present their demands to the governor.
