The International Federation of Business and Professional Women, BPW International, has stressed the importance of the education of children, particularly the girl-child education, for a better, prosperous and sustainable society.
Making the emphasis during a familiarization visit to the L. E. A. Primary School, Tnugan Kwasou, in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, the current President of African Business and Professional Women in the African Union, AU, and immediate past President of BPW International, Dr. Amany Asfour, said any society that aspires to progress in any facet of human endeavours must give priority attention to the education of its children.
Dr. Asfour expressed satisfaction with the administration of academic activities and progress made in impacting education on pupils of the school.
He said BPW International as one of the most influential networks of business and professional women in the world, will continue to champion the cause for the promotion and enhancement of child education and in particular, that of the girl-child.
In her remarks, the National President of BPW International, Nigeria, Mrs. Yinka Ajibola, said that the visit to the school was to inspect progress made in academic teachings of the children since its inception in 2017.
Mrs. Ajibola said that they were highly impressed with what they saw and called on the management and staff of the school to keep on with the good job and make L. E. A. Tungan Kwasou a leading example among its peers in the provision of high quality primary education in Bwari Area Council and the FCT as a whole.
The Ward Head of Tungan Kwasou, Alhaji Muhammad Giwa, who is the Royal Father of the day, expressed his appreciation on behalf of the people of Tungan Kwasou Ward for the provision of the school, which he said has greatly impacted on the community positively, making education available and affordable within their doorsteps.
Head Teacher of the School, Hajiya Rahmat Suleiman, expressed the happiness and gratitude of the nanagement, staff and students of the school, not only in the provision of the school for the community, but for the constant look out and encouragement from BPW International for the progress and better growth of the school.
Hajiya Suleiman then promised that the staff will continue to put in their very best for the good of the school in providing better education and good upbringing of the pupils as part of their contribution for a better society.
In a speech read by Joy Hillary, a pupil of the school, to the admiration of the visiting BPW International officials, she said they are thankful to BPW International for their philanthropic gesture in the provision of the school, which has afforded them the opportunity to acquire education with ease, promising to make judicious use of the knowledge impacted on them to be better and useful citizens in the society.
