From the most unexpected quarters came a candid advice and counsel to Southerners to ensure they vote for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The advice was given by an Igboman in a video that has since gone viral on the social media.
The young man, who did not reveal his name warned that unless Southerners out their acts together and vote for the right candidate, they may lose out in the power game being played in the country.
He informed that by constitutional provisions, for anyone to emerge President of Nigeria, he must score at least 25 per cent votes in at least 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
He started in the video by first debunking the insinuation that it is the APC government that is hoarding the new naira notes, insisting that the APC is determined to win the election and therefore, would not do anything to jeopardize it’s chances in the election that is inching closer by the day.
He said, “Rather it is the people that want to take power that is responsible for the scarcity of the new naira notes.”
He further added, “I just want to make this appeal. The Nigerian constitution says that for anybody to be President, he must win 25 per cent of votes in at least 25 states of the federation; and I have been following the analyses of many people about the presidential election. And I would like to say, ‘I love Peter Obi,’ but the truth of the matter is that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Wazirin Adamawa, is well accepted in the North. There is no way Peter Obi would score five percent in some states in the North.”
He added further that no matter the votes garnered by Peter Obi in the South, it would not change anything.
Declaring Obi’s aspiration as a ‘dead on arrival’ project, the young man declared that he did not have anything against Atiku, who he said is intelligent, has been a vice president and widely accepted in the North, he insisted that since power has resided in the North for the past seven and a half years, going to eight, the proper thing is for power to rotate to the South this time around.
He enthused, “Election is hard Mathematic. It is not somebody that would hand over power to you on a platter of gold.”
Warning that if Southerners failed to play the game the right way, power would remain in the North in the next dispensation, the young man said, “It is not about fighting; it is not about shouting; it is about strategy.
He called attention to the destruction of facilities in the South, particularly the South-East, noting that such is not happening in the North.
He therefore appealed to Southerners to out their eggs in one basket by voting massively for Asiwaju Tinubu, because the APC has a strong footing in the North, where it would surely win some states hands down and get 25 per cent in many states in the North.
He added that the Kashim Shettima factor is also very key to APC success, as he is also respected among his people.
He was emphatic that nobody can win presidential election in the country without aligning with the North.
Specifically, he said that while Southerners are busy fighting one another and making noise as the election draws near, the North is busy building cohesion.
He insisted that despite all the castigation against Tinubu, he remains the best option for power to come down to South and APC remains the only platform to achieve power rotation to the South.
He said, “People says he is sick, he said ‘bla blu,’ but he has been campaigning up and down; and he remains the only credible and possible option for power to rotate to the South and the APC the only platform that can make it possible for power to rotate to the South.”
He averred that if the South would not deliberately play into the hands of Atiku, the best thing for the South to do is to rally round Tinubu and ensure that he wins the Presidency for the South, insisting that he is sure that the restructuring we are clamouring for would happen under a Tinubu presidency.
He added, “I want to appeal to my Igbo brothers; I want to appeal to my Yoruba brothers and my South South brothers, let us come together and unite behind Asiwaju Tinubu to ensure that power rotates down to the South in this election.
If we count all the votes in South, we would not have achieved the constitutional requirements of 25 per cent in 24 states, but with the APC’s spread and tentacles in the North, this is achievable.”
He also appealed to his Igbo brothers and the entire Nigeria to embark on genuine reconciliation if they truly desire to rule Nigeria, reminding of the 1966 coup plot in which Tafawa Balewa and Ahamadu Bello were killed.
He averred that campaigns and election is not just about dancing and at the end of the day, someone would not get up to 50,000 votes.
He concluded by appealing to all Southerners to vote for Asiwaju Tinubu, as he is the only person who has the capacity and capability and the requisite platform to bring power down to the South.
In a related development, another Igboman in another video that has also gone viral, has appealed to his fellow Igbos to stop peddling the rumours that Yorubas hate Igbos.
He cited examples of how Igbo neighbours confisticated their properties after the civil war, while it was only the Yorubas who not only kept Igbo properties but also returned same to them after the civil war.
He cited the examples of Emeka Anyaoku, who it was said that not only did his Yoruba neighbour kept his property and return same from him, he also gave him the three-year rent he collected while he was away.
He also mentioned that even the late Odumegwu Ojukwu who was the Brain behind Biafra also had his father’s 13 properties in Ikoyi, Lagos return to him.
