Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku had sise that he will vigorously pursue and implement the sports policy of his administration in order to improve the mental and physical abilities of the youths of his state and enhance the economic prosperity of tbe people of Kebbi State.
Senator Bagudu affirmed this while addressing hundreds of sports men and women at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi, on Friday, at the distribution of sporting equipment to all state clubs in the 21 local government areas for the promotion of sporting activities.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Bagudu,
Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, stated that the governor, while expressing happiness at the high level presence of football players, who were there to collect their allocations, advised youths in the state to strive hard to excel and compete professionally at national and international sporting activities in the footsteps of Zaidu Sanusi Jega, an indigene of Kebbi State, playing in the Portuguese Premier League.
The governor explained that the decision to establish football academy in the state and sponsor youths to attend Kwara Football Academy, as well as engaging quality coaches to train footballers, was aimed at enhancing the game of soccer in the state.
Equipment distributed include football, jerseys, tracksuits, stockings and other materials.
