The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has declared his resolve to create jobs in the state, especially for the youths.

He had therefore asked members of the State Executive Council to come up with various ideas on how to further tackle unemployment in the state.

The governor came with the declaration a day after a virtual meeting he had with the youths on the celebration of the 2020 International Youth Day, IYD, and subsequently met his cabinet members.

He said, “One of our biggest challenges as a country is youth unemployment, regardless of what we are currently doing, especially with regards to our recent moves in that direction.

“I am charging you to come up with innovative ideas about how to create more jobs in our various constituencies. Let us brainstorm to further expand the employment base in our state.”

Away from that, the governor listened to commissioners and the Head of Service briefings and the entire cabinet approved the construction of innovation hub, visual arts centre, asphalt overlay of the Ilesha Baruba Gwanara road under construction and the establishment of the Agricultural Engineering Services, AES, Department at the Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The AES is to strengthen the state’s efforts to tap into modern agricultural practices, the HOS had reportedly told the cabinet.
