Three kidnap victims on Elefo Farm, in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State have regained their freedom from their abductors.
A statement by the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, said that a joint effort of the Police, the Vigilante Group, local hunters and families of the victims yielded the success in rescuing them.
They victims were kidnapped on the farm at Tafatafa village, which sparked spirited search for them by security agencies, family and community efforts.
Okasanmi said that the Kwara State Police Command got information on Augusut 23, 2021, that at about 3.30pm, three persons, one female and two males, at Elefo farm in Tafatafa village were kidnapped by four men in army camouflage.
The Police spokesman however said the Command was happy that the victims, “one Devine Favou, ‘m’; one Tosin Arogundade, ‘m’; and one Mariam Salihu, ‘f’ had all been rescued unhurt and released to their families.
He gave assurance that the Police in Kwara State was ready to “confront and bring to their knees all forms of criminality in the state, while effort is on top gear to get the abducted 300-level female student of the Kwara State University rescued, as we are closing in on the suspects.”
There had been cases of kidnapping of late in Kwara State ranging from waylaying travellers around Omu Aran in Irepodun, Ekiti and Oke Ero local government areas of the state.
A pathetic case was that of a kidnapped engineer, Ayodele Alabi, who along with six others were kept in the bush by their captors under gruesome tortures, which later claimed the life of the diabetic engineer.
His remains was rested in Ilorin, the state capital on Friday.
