A student of Start-Rite International School Abuja, Chukwudubem Amasiani, has emerged as one of the champions of Ghana 2023 ITC/CAT West and Central Africa U-12 Tennis Championship.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the school, distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, at a retreat organized for the new staff of the educational institution.
Ndoma-Egba, a former Senate Leader and avid lawn tennis player, said, “Few weeks before we vacated, we celebrated one of our own Chukwudubem Amasiani, who won two titles for under 12 and under 14 at the national junior tennis championship, held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. He is the national champion in both categories.
“The good news is that he just won the West African tennis tournament and he is preparing for the African championship. We don’t know when the African championship would hold, but I would be there as a member of staff. So, Start-Rite is not all about academics, we are grounded, we are rounded. We are total. We are indeed a total package.”
Addressing the new staff, the advisory board helmsman urged them to “please remain as professional as you can be. You are professional teachers. How you teach, how you conduct yourself and how you communicate with your colleagues, with parents, with outsiders is very important. You must believe in yourselves. That is confidence. And then you must believe in your brand which is Start-Rite.
“At Start-Rite we are happy people. Everybody here is happy. If you are not happy please go back to where you are coming from. We welcome you formally to this environment. Now, where are we? Recently, we celebrated 15 years. We celebrated our first graduation for our secondary school. We have now received our WAEC results. We did very well. It’s just that it is not our standard. Our standard is to be the best. We don’t want to say we did well. We want to say we are the best.”
Introducing the new Vice Principal, Academics, to parents, Ndoma-Egba said, “In line with our commitment to securing the finest and most seasoned professionals to undertake the responsibility of nurturing our children and guiding them towards excellence, it is with immense pleasure that I introduce to you our newly appointed Vice-Principal, Academics, at Start-Rite Schools – Mrs. Gloria Obiagheli Okolie.
“Mrs. Okolie brings with her an impressive background, coupled with a wealth of experience in education. Holding an MA, Ed, in Guidance and Counselling from the esteemed University of Calabar, her qualifications stand as a testament to her expertise. Prior to her appointment, Mrs. Okolie has worked in renowned schools in Lagos State, highlighting her track record in shaping young minds.”
Start-Rite School, one of the citadel of learning in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, known for its academic excellence, was founded in 2008 by Mrs. Amaka Ndoma-Egba, the late wife of the advisory board chairman, out of her burning desire to contribute her quota to the improvement of educational standards and promotion of national development.
