The Permanent Secretary, Parastarals in the Kwara State cabinet, Mr. Bayo Audu Oninago, has been suspended from office by the government indefinitely.

He is yanked off his post because he was implicated in the ongoing investigation of ghost workers and suspicious deductions from workers’ salary at the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB.

Oninago was suspended along with other top government officials, namely: the Director of Finance and Supply of SUBEB, Husseni Ahmed; the Account Officers, Mujeeb Ibrahim and Oyerinde Fatai; as well as a staff of the Teaching Service Commission, TSC, who doubled as the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, Mr Toyin Saliu.

The state government in a statement issued by the state Commissioner for Communication, Murtala Olanrewaju, in Ilorin said, “The indefinite suspension is connected to some discoveries of alleged fraud in the parastatal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

“This is in line with the efforts of the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration to cleanse the system, particularly at SUBEB, where some startling discoveries have been made.”

Olanrewaju added, “Salaries connected to the controversial names on the payroll have been flagged and suspended until the end of the investigation exercise.”
