In the aftermath of the early morning Sunday explosion which rocked Abule Ado area of Lagos, the Principal of Bethlehem High School, Abule Ado, Rev. Sr. Henrietta Alokha has been confirmed dead. Rev Sister Alokah was among the 17 who lost lives in the early morning explosion
Rev. Sister Alokha died while trying to save her students from the fire which engulfed the school, following the explosion, as she died when the roof of the building caved in on her.
Meanwhile, most of the students of the school have been accounted for, with some having minor cuts and injuries, while some with more serious injuries are receiving treatment at the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo.
An eye witness reported, “The roof of our building is off and a nearby school is on fire.”
It was reported that the Rev. Sister was able to rescue all her students before she succumbed to the fire and paid the supreme price.

Meanwhile, reacting to the death of the Rev. Sister, former governor of Anambra State and vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi, on his verified Twitter page consoled with the management of the Bethlehem College, while praising the heroic act of the deceased principal.
Expressing his condolences to victims of the explosion, Obi wrote: “When it mattered most, Rev Sr Henrietta Alokha, Principal of Bethlehem Girls College, Abule Ado, Lagos, heroically put her life on the line to rescue her students in the Sunday explosion, in Lagos.
“Sadly she lost her life in the process when the caving roof fell on her. May her soul and that of all those who died in the tragedy rest in peace. Amen.”
