…Asks Him To Explain Why His Lodge Wasn’t Reported Looting
The Chief Press Secretary, CPS, to the governor of Osun State, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, has admonished the CPS to former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Ismail Omipidan, to stop defending the looting of government quarters occupied by former government officials.
Rasheed stated this in a press statement he signed and made available to newsmen on Monday.
He said in the statement, “I called on former Chief Press Secretary, CPS, to former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, to stop defending documented looting perpetrated in 90 percent of the government quarters occupied by former government officials.
“We guess there should be a limit to defending a reprehensible conduct of unscrupulous officials. The public should ask Mr. Omipidan why his official residence was not listed as looted. Also, the public may want to ask why the official lodge of the former Secretary to the State Government was not listed as looted.
“We have inspected all the government quarters and our team released to the public what we found in those places. 90 percent of government quarters were pillaged. The simple fact was that neither Omipidan’s place nor that of the former SSG was pillaged. Hence, our reports never mentioned those untouched places which are less than 10 percent.
If over 90 percent of the quarters were looted, the government of the day has a responsibility to report to the public. The assets in question are publicly owned and Osun people deserve to know what happened.”
Rasheed averred that as an open government, the administration of Ademola Adeleke is transparent, and will not hide anything from the people.
The statement added, “A public committee functions in a public place with a duty of public reporting. This is not a secretive organisation. The government of Senator Ademola Adeleke is not interested in covering up recent maladministration and diversion of public assets.”
