The Chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Walid Jibrin, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to the Electoral Amendment Bill placed before him without any further delay.
Jibrin said it would be in the interest of the generality of Nigerians and this nascent democracy for the President to sign the Act into law “at the right time.”
Jibrin made the call while fielding questions from journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Friday at the turbaning ceremony of of former National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, as Tafida of Ilorin; pleading that every Nigerian in positions of authorities should think about the all round progress of the country in their actions.
The turbaning of Baraje was full of funfare at the ancient palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, who led his high chiefs to officiate the rituals witnessed by dignitaries across the country.
The list of dignataries who graced the turbaning ceremony included: Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Hon. Manir Daniya, who is also the Walin Sokoto, who came to represent his principal, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, both of the PDP.
Others present were the President of the eighth Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki; immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed; former governor of the state, Senator Mohammed Shaaba Lafiagi; Senator Dino Melaye, among other top notchers of the party.
