World over, tertiary institutions have tripartite roles of teaching, research and community service. The Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, as an agriculture-based institution, established to raise middle level manpower in agriculture, migrated to become a polytechnic, such that the educational training at the institution now covers management, technology and agriculture.

The Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, like her counterparts has not reneged in providing excellent and qualitative training for youths in Agriculture, Management and Technology.

Since its inception in 2006, the institution has become a special brand that is strategically located in an agrarian environment of Igboora, Oyo State with state-of-the art facilities and excellent and dedicated teachers.

For instance, at the inception of the institution in 2006, the polytechnic could only boast of having one PhD holder and COREN certified engineer, but as of today, the institution now has over 19 PhD holders and not less than 10 COREN certified engineers, as well as other certified professionals in various fields who are committed to training successful applicants in National and Higher National Diploma levels or short-term vocational skills and entrepreneurship training. This was made possible by the management of the institution who created enabling environment for staff development.

Graduates of the institutions who are churned out annually are widely dispersed in various farms, organizations and universities of higher learning where they are doing the institution proud.

Some of the facilities available for training and research farm include; piggery, poultry, rabbitry, cattle kraal, sheep and goats pen, fish farm, feed mill and modern garri processing factory. Others are engineering workshops, glass blowing workshop, laboratories for analysis, food processing laboratory, hairdressing and tailoring workshops among others.

The Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora through its various collaborations with notable organizations, both locally and internationally has expanded its tentacles, which makes the institution to become a unique brand among the comity of tertiary institutions in the state.

OYSCATECH Igboora has collaborations with various organizations such as; Niji Farms, Ilero; Psaltry International, Ado Awaye; CORAF/WECARD; IITA; Michigan State University, USA; Winrock International; the Federal Government on the training of FADAMA guys; and Oyo State Government under Agricultural Initiative, OYSAI.

Having recorded the aforementioned feats, the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, has decided to align itself with the current realities of commercializing some of its activities with a view to boosting its internally generated revenue.

It is in this light, that Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, intends to invest in the production of high-quality cassava flour for exportation, cattle rearing for sales and fattening, block making industry, pure water production in sachets and bottles, ambulatory and consultancy services for livestock owners in Ibarapa region, among others.

The question that readily comes to mind is, how does OYSCATECH intends to achieve this investment plans?

To carry out these special projects, the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, needs the support of investors who are willing to partner with the institution in the following areas; pure water production, cattle rearing, block making industry and high-quality cassava production.
