The executive governor of Oyo State, Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde has approved resumption dates for the 2020/21 academic session for public and private primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the Pacesetter State.
A statement from the state Ministry of Education, Science and technology stated that the resumption date for 2020/2021 academic is Monday, Monday, September 21, 2020.
Part of the revised guidelines for primary and secondary schools is that schools will now operate morning and afternoon shifting for pupils and students of primary and secondary schools as follows: Primary 1 -3: 8.00 am – 11.00 am; Primary 4 – 6: 12 noon – 3.00 pm; JSSS 1 – 3: 8.00 am – 11.00 am and SSS 1 – 3: 12 noon – 3.00 pm
Other guidelines are: compulsory establishment of COVID_19 Taskforce, to be headed by schools heads with two members of staff as members; schools heads are to make temporary use of spaces like laboratories, libraries and examination hall as classrooms, where it is necessary in order to observe social distancing; pupils/students are to be attached to chairs and tables; while sharing of items should be discouraged.
In related development, the governor has also approved the re-opening of state and private owned tertiary institutions for regular academic activities to commence from Monday, September 28, 2020
Academic boards and senates of tertiary institutions are expected to fix their dates of resumption and comply strictly with the guidelines on re-opening.
