The Oyo State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, in collaboration with the Oyo State National Orientation Agency, on Thursday held a valedictory reception for the outgoing Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Oyo State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke.

The event, holding which held at Oyo State NOA hall at Agodi Ibadan had in attendance members of IPAC in Oyo State and the representative of the Oyo State Police Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner of Police Gbenga Ojo.

Others in attendance at thebsend-forth programme include: the Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, Dr. Bashir Olarewaju; Oyo State Director of NOA, Kayode Odedokun; Oyo State Commandant of the Nigerina Civil and Security Defence Corps, NSCDC, represented by Mr. F. J. Ette; chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, Barr Isiaka Olagunju; representative of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board chairman, Mr. Salami Akeem.

Others were: the Directors of Administration, INEC, Oyo State, Alhaji Biodun Onikate Amosun and Directors, Voter Education and Publicity, INEC, Oyo State, Mrs Roseline Alábá Adeniyi, who also read Agboke’s citation at the event.

Guests at the send-forth were entertained by the Oyo INEC Cultural Troupe.

Chairman of Oyo IPAC, Apostles Ojo Olúdáre Oyekunle, eulogised the outgoing REC for. Anon well done while he held forte in Oyo State, hoping and praying that the next occupant of the seat would continue from where Dr Agboke is stopping.

He added that whoever is taking over from Dr. Agboke would continue the good works Agboke had started, especially the good working relationship between the electoral umpire and INEC.

It was an outpouring of commendation for Dr Agboke as everyone at the event had one good thing or the other to say about his tour of duty in Oyo State.

Speaking at the send-forth, Dr Agboke challenged politicians to play the game according to the rule so that the peopel can enjoy the dividends of democracy and to also ensure that the people’s will during elections is upheld.

He charged IPAC, NOA and INEC to continue with synergy already existing among them in Oyo State, which he expressed happiness over, adding that the relationship that exists between INEC and IPAC in Oyo State is second to none across the federation.

Dr Agboke expressed appreciation to everyone who has played one role or the other in his tenure as Oyo State REC, and not wished that IPAC would continue to work together, irrespective of individual members’ political leaning.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of gift to the outgoing REC by Oyo State IPAC.
