The Oyo State government has said that it has approved the renovation and reconstruction of 229 health facilities to enhance healthcare delivery in the state.

Disclosing this during a press conference at the Governor’s Office, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bashir Bello, flanked by the state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, his counterpart in the Ministry of Energy, Seun Asamu and the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Taiwo Adisa, said that the facilities would cover all the local government areas of the state.

Bello said, “We are here to inform you that today, the State Executive Council has approved the alternative project funding for the renovation and reconstruction of the primary health facilities in the state.

“And the total number of about 299 has been given to two different firms and this is on the ground that the project will commence within two months.

“It will cover all the local government area of the state. His Excellency has mentioned that at least there would be one per ward and since we have 251 wards the primary health care board itself will take care of the remaining 52.

“Primary health care centres would be renovated and be reconstructed.”
