…Commiserates With His Omu Aran Family
By Wole Adedeji, Ilorin
The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, has confirmed that the ancestral root of the late first executive governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, is Omu Aran in Kwara State.
Jakande, a media legend, passed on last week and had since been laid to rest.
A statement by the monarch and his ‘Olomu-in-Council’ released in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital by Olayinka Owolewa, the community’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, said, “Although the late Alhaji Jakande was born and bred in Lagos, he never denied Omu-Aran as his ancestral roots.
“In words and in deeds, he participated in Omu-Aran community meetings in Lagos and its development programmes.
“He also enthusiastically paid many visits to his Idimu, Okore family compound in Omu-Aran.”
Oba Adeoti enjoined Alhaji Jakande’s children and grand children to build on the enviable legacies of their father by associating with Omu-Aran and promoting democratic ideals in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
The monarch added, “Omu-Aran remains eternally proud of Alhaji Jakande, as one of its own.”
While commiserating with the Jakande’s family in Omu Aran and his nucleus family in Lagos, Oba Adeoti paid glowing tributes to the memory of late Alhaji Jakande.
Special prayers were offered for the repose of Jakande’s soul in the town at the instance of the monarch.
