Ogun State has defeated other bidding states and won the right to host the next edition of the National Sports Festival, expected to hold in 2024.

This is just as the curtains gradually draw closer on the 21st edition of the National Sports Festival, NSF, tagged ‘Delta 2022.’

The Federal Ministry of Sports hinted that six states of the federation indicated interest to be given the hosting right for the next edition.

Recall that the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, had indicated the readiness of the state to host the 22nd Edition of the National Sports Festival in 2024.

Govegnor Abiodun gave this indication last month, when he played host to the 22nd National Sport Festival Evaluation Committee, in his office.

Expressing his conviction that no other state can defeat Ogun in its plans to host the festival after almost 16 years it hosted it, Abiodun noted that Ogun is one of the most peaceful states in the country, urging the committee to make security, peaceful atmosphere and the well-being of the athletes the most important consideration above others.

The governor who added that his administration sees the development of the sport sector as very important, as it helps to instill discipline, leadership skills and also helps the youths to stay clear from social vices, said that hosting of the festival is fundamental to the social economic development of the state.
