Good times are here for small businesses in Ogun State as the state government has announced the provision of soft loans up to N10 million to boost their fortunes under the N500 million business growth programme of the Dapo Abiodun-led government.

Also over 200 Community Development Associations, CDAs, across the state will receive grants and subventions up to N5 million from the state government.

Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, made the declarations at the MKO Abiola Stadium on Wednesday, during the 2024 edition of the International Community and World Trade Day.

The governor, who hosted the event for the second time during his tenure said, “This is an event to appreciate community development associations for their tireless effort in the development of our state. You are indeed our worthy partners in progress. All CDAs who executed major projects are especially appreciated.”

The governor noted that the trade associations are the the engine room of development, adding that his government
would soon begin to disburse soft loans to them to boost their businesses and enhance development in the state and the nation at large.

He said, “Our programmes and policies will continue to be people-driven. 400 transformers were shared by the government last year.

“In line with our commitment to bring development to our people, grants will be shared to over 200 communities. Each will receive grants from N200,000 to N5 million. Subventions will be given to over 100 CDAs, state and senatorial communities. N500 million of soft loans will be given to artisans.”

Governor Abiodun noted that modalities for disbursement is being worked out.

He said initiatives for youth development will be unveiled in the state soonest.

The governor, however, urged the community development associations to use the grants judiciously.
