Arrangements have been concluded by the supporters of the Labour Party, LP, in Cross River State to receive the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, in Calabar, the Cross River State capital today, Wednesday, December 21, for the party’s campaign rally.
The senatorial candidate of the LP for Cross River South senatorial district, Rt. Hon Daniel Asuquo, stated this in a telephone discussion with our correspondent this morning.
Asuquo, who is the current member representing Akamkpa/Biase federal constituency at the lower chamber of National Assembly stated that Obi’s visit to the state would change the narratives regarding the perception of electorates about Obi’s candidacy in the state.
The law maker charge ‘Obidient’ supporters to get ready so that they can play host to their presidential candidate who they are sure of sweeping the polls to assume of the the Presidency in 2023.
Asuquo added that with Obi as President, the many troubles, suffering, and economic hardship faced by Nigerians would become a thing of the past.
He said, “This is why I am asking all the youths to support Obi. This is the turn of the youths to rule this nation.
“Nobody would pretend that he is not facing economic hardship. Unless you guys want us to continue the way we have been suffering.
“This is in line with the presidential campaign team’s plan to meet with ‘Obidient’ family and to probably speak on the good things his administration intends to bring to the nation.
“For the first time, the Calabar stadium would be filled to the brim.”
Asked f the LP is not afraid of the All Prohressives Congress, APC, Asuquo stated, “If you had mentioned the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of those days that had the cloud, I would have said it’s fine.
“APC of today is only a faction of the PDP. If you talk of LP it is generic, and not a faction of any party.
And who are the generic? The masses, who are out to take back their country.
“The people are feeling the hardship of bad governance, bad policies, failed promises. And that is generic.
“The crowd you are going to see has nothing to do with PDP or the APC, but a generic crowd.
“If you fail to be part of it, don’t be surprised if you find your wife and kids leaving you to fight for their future.”
