The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, is set to deliver quality training and impact vocational skills to Nigerian youths in the Federal Government’s N-Power Build program, expected to commence soon nationwide.

The training is aimed at improving operational efficiency and sustainable development of the hospitality industry in the country.

The Director General, DG, of NIHOTOUR, Alhaji Nura Sani Kangiwa, made the disclosure after signing a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, between the Institute, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, FMHADMSD, and the Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria, ITPN, in Abuja.

A release by the Institute’s Director of Media and Public Relations, Mr. Ahmed Sule, quoted the DG as saying tha NIHOTOUR is desirous of delivering vocational, technical and professional skills for operators in the Nigerian hospitality and tourism sector for improved quality products and service delivery that will boost growth in the industry.

Applauding the Federal Government’s initiative of the N-Power Build program, which he said is capable of enhancing the national capacity for operators in the hospitality and tourism value chains, to achieve best global standards and practices of improved, efficient and effective operations in hotels, culinary, and travel tourism services.

The N-Power Build is a job creation and empowerment initiative of the Federal Government, designed to help young Nigerians acquire and develop life-long skills to become solution providers in their communities, as well as players in the domestic and global markets, with hospitality trade being a part of the areas of training needs for the program.

The MoU is to enable the three parties enter into a non-exclusive, non-legally binding collaborative relationship for the implementation of the hospitality aspect of the N-Power Build of the National Social Investment Program, NSIP, with the FMHADMSD providing the project plans, resources and monitoring, amongst others, to achieve the desired skills development and capacity building objectives.

NIHOTOUR is to oversee general implementation of the training requirements for the hospitality trades while ITPN undertakes and implements the training requirements of the hospitality trades.
