The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams, has tasked Nigerians home and in the diaspora to shun all preachings that fosters discrimination of any form, and charged Nigerina to speak in one voice, despite the numerous challenges that the country is faced with.

Williams dropped the charge while delivering a speech in his office yesterday, in Calabar, as part of activities to mark the nation’s independence day celebration

The Speaker stated that Nigeria has reached a milestone at 61, irrespective of the numerous challenges confronting her.

The lawmaker stressed that democracy should be celebrated by the people with hope, and not despair, insisting that the unity and oneness of the nation remains sacrosanct.

Calling on Nigerians to learn how to speak in one voice and speak good about the country at all times, shun all forms of divisive tendencies, if the country is to move forward from where it is now, Williams said, “Our democracy should be celebrated, while Nigerians should be hopeful.”

The speaker sued for concerted efforts by all Nigerians, irrespective of social status, to work towards the development and growth of the nation so as to lift the nation to enviable height.

Williams, who represents the people of Yakur state constituency at the Cross River State House of Assembly, CRHA, said that it is only when citizens of the country decide to give in thier best that a lot would be achieved.

The lawmaker charged Nigerians to do away with ethnicity, religious bigotry and other social vices that tear the country apart if the unity of the nation is to be kept intact.

He further maintained that the Nigerian project is worth believing in, even as he called for unity to enable us achieve a better Nigeria.
