The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for the Nasarawa State Police Comnand, CP Adesina Musbau Soyemi, yesterday assumed duty in the state.
CP Soyemi replaced Bola Longe, who was promoted recently to the rank of an Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG.
Consequently, newly promoted AIG Longe handed over the Nasarawa State Police Command leadership to the new Police Commissioner at an elaborated ceremony at the Command’s headquarters in Lafia, the state capital.
In a brief introduction, AIG Longe described the new Nasarawa State Police Commissioner, CP Soyemi, as a thorough bred Police Officer, with immense professional and managerial experience.
He said, “Consequently, I rounded off my assignment here in Nasarawa State. I therefore want to highlight some of our major achievements in the last one month, which included the arrest of 55 suspected criminals.”
AIG Longe gave a break down that out of the 55 suspected criminals arrested, 46 were cultists, six were internet fraudsters, two were drug dealers, while one was a car snatcher.
He gave the number of items recovered from the suspects by the Police during the Command’s operations to include one vehicle, 33 bags of marijuana, 22 laptops and two axes.
In his own address at the handing over ceremony, the new Nasarawa Police Commissioner, Soyemi, warned men and officers of the state Police Command to steer clear of corruption, as his leadership style would have zero tolerance for corrupt tendencies.
This was even as CP Soyemi pledged to build on the platform already established by his predecessor in order to keep the state safe for all people engaging in legitimate businesses across the state.
