A group of youths under the aegis of North East Youths Discussions Circle, NEYDC, a strong support group for the Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Campaign Organization in the last February 2023 presidential election, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Comrade Mohammed Mahmud as minister.
Recall that Comrade Mahmud, a former social media aide to the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senatir Kashim Shettima, when hd served as governor of Borno State, played significant roles in the last election that produced Tinubu as President, as the National Coordinator, Tinubu/Shettima Media Support Group in the North East sub-region.
In a press statement signed on Wednesday by the NEYDC Chairman, Prince Mohammed Sani Hassan, a copy which was made available to journalists in Maiduguri, the group said that the call became necessary in view of the numerous roles Comrade Mahmud played before, during and after the last concluded presidential elections, which was attested to be free, fair and credible by local, national and international observers.
Comrade Hassan commended President Tinubu for his tremendous efforts and commitment towards fixing Nigeria and Nigerians to a greater heights within the shortest time in office.
The statement reads in part, “We commend Mr President, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his tremendous effort, dedication and commitments in fixing Nigeria within a short period of time. We are very much sure he will move Nigeria to the next level of development without rancor or discrimination.
“Considering the fact that youths from the region have done so much to ensure the emergence of His Excellency Mr President at the 2023 election, we are requesting His Excellency, Senator Tinubu to please consider one of our own, Comrade Muhammad Mahmud, the National Coordinator, Tinubu/Shettima Media Support Group from Borno State to be appointed as Minister of Youths, considering his commitment and dedication to our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.”
Giving full background details on Comrade Mahmud, Hassan said, “Muhammad Mahmud was born early 90s to the family of Mallam Muhammad Alhaji Isa; he attended Mafoni Primary School, in Maiduguri, and had his SSCE in Mafoni Secondary School, Maiduguri, before proceeding to Mohammed Goni College of Legal and Islamic Studies, in 2009, where he obtained his Diploma in Computer Appreciation.
“Mahmud later proceeded to the University of Maiduguri, between 2009 and 2012, where he obtained his diploma in Biology Education, and degree, BS.c, in Environmental Biology, between 2012 and 2015. He also bagged his Master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management and Developmental Studies at the same University of Maiduguri and later obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, from the same University of Maiduguri. Mahmud also bagged a Master’s degree in Information and Communication Technology, and an Advanced Diploma in Human Resources, Strategic Operations and MIS and Networking, all under Joint Professional Training Studies, South American University, USA.
“He was also a one-time Special Assistant on state and national Welfare Programme and was a social media aide to Senator Shettima during his tenure as governor of Borno State. He is currently the ICT Coordinator of Borno State University, BOSU, and the National Coordinator Tinubu/Shettima Media Support.
“Mahmud was a member of the Technical Working Group of the Presidential Committee on Repatriation of Nigerian Refugees Living in Cameroon.
“He was also a Committee member of the first Lake Chad Basin Governors Conference, LCBGF, that held in Maiduguri.
“Mahmud is a member of the Governing Council of BOSU; Head of ICT in BOSU; Senior Assistant Registrar, and also a member of several committees in the university, which include: member, TETFund Committee, ICT Development Committee, Security Advisory Council, Information Security and Protocol Committee, In-house Due Process Committee, Admissions Committee, Ad-Hoc Committee of Accreditation, Library Development Committee, Orientation Committee among others.
“Mahmud, a Fellow if the Institute of Disaster Management and Safety Science, FDMSS, Fellow, Chartered Institute of Disaster Management, USA FCIDSM, member Institute of Information Management, MIIM, and member Nigerian Environmental Society MNES, member, Association of Disaster Manager Without Boarders.
“He is also a committed, skilled and experienced public servant, with a broad knowledge of ICT, Environment and Disaster Risk Management, a very intelligent and outspoken politician, having extremely self-esteem and confidence. He is generally viewed as Influential Youth Leader to the leaders, especially younger generations of tomorrow.
“Mahmud was also a member of the 2023 Presidential Campaign Council under North-East Support Group Coordination Committee
“On this note, Your Excellency Sir, on behalf of the entire youths that contributed so much before and after your emergence as our President, hope that our request to your esteem office would be given a desired outcome.”
