…Confirms Comrade Ajibola-Led Exco As Authentic, Recognised Oyo NAWOJ Leadership
The national leadership of the National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has insisted that the only leadership it recognised in the Oyo State chapter of NAWOJ is the Comrade Jadesola Ajibola-led executive council.
It insisted that for any group to lay false claim to the leadership of the association in Oyo State is not only “most unfortunate,” but “uncalled for and unwarranted.”
The national leadership of NAWOJ made this known in a disclaimer, dated December 6, 2021, signed by NAWOJ National Secretary, Comrade Helen Udofa, and made available to CompassNG.
The disclaimer said that the “Kangaroo group of impostors, led by Omolola Alamu, Shade Oduola, Ramat Alade, Temilola Ankarah, Temitope Oyewole and Kehinde Igbari, are parading themselves with the presumption and belief that there are no rules, processes and body of laws in NAWOJ, thereby inaugurating themselves at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku-Ibadan.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the NAWOJ National leadership usually follows all laid down procedures and processes as contained in the constitution of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, in the emergence of it’s leaders at all levels.
“It is therefore unacceptable to allow a group of persons to constitute themselves into brigandage and lawlessness by falsely laying claims through the backdoor to what they did not achieve through laid down procedures and rules.”
Udofa insisted that NAWOJ, as a responsible association, is constrained to clear the air on the leadership crisis rocking it’s Oyo State chapter “to avoid a situation where unsuspecting members of the public are misinformed, as well as avoiding a situation whereby the name of our great and noble association will be dragged through the mud by these impostors.”
The disclaimer continued, “For emphasis, NAWOJ National Secretariat wishes to state very clearly that it has distanced itself from the charade of Omolola Alamu, Shade Oduola, Ramat Alade, Temilola Ankarah, Temitope Oyewole and Kehinde Igbari, parading themselves as leaders of NAWOJ in Oyo State, as they clearly failed to meet the constitutional requirements to contest in the recent election and can therefore NOT be allowed to use the backdoor to foist themselves on the association.”
Udofa added that “NAWOJ is equally constrained to take judicial notice of the activities of the impostors, as well as using this medium to inform all security agencies in Oyo State to take notice and treat Omolola Alamu and her co-travellers, as well as their associates within and outside the association as impersonators”
Insisting that NAWOJ National secretariat only recognises the leadership of the association in Oyo State, led by Jadesola Ajibola, “that was duly elected and sworn-in by the officials assigned by the national leadership,” NAWOJ National leadership urged members of the public to only relate and transact business with Ajibola and members of her executive committee.
It added, “For the avoidance of doubt, the Jadesola Ajibola-led executive, having met all constitutional requirements of the NUJ constitution, which is the ground norm being used by the association in the conduct of election into state councils,is the authentic leadership known nad recognised by the NAWOJ National secretariat.”
Udofa therefore called on NAWOJ development partners and well-meaning members of the public in Oyo State in particular and the generality of the people across the country to accord the Jadesola Ajibola-led executive it’s pride of place in the scheme of things.
