Confusion pervades the air in the remote town of Koro, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, as a man was said to have committed suicide by shooting himself dead with a dane gun in a room where he locked himself up.

The sound of the locally made gun had attracted neighbours’ attention, who rushed to the place only to find him stone dead, after forcing the door opened, according to sources in Koro.

It was gathered that even as at the time of filing this report, no clue could be found yet as to what led to the action of the deceased, who was simply identified as Olarewaju Abioye.

Abisoye, aged 47, reportedly shot the dane gun into his mouth inside his room at about 1 p.m on Friday in Ore; their family compound in Koro community.

It was said that not even a suicide note was found in the room where he took his own life nor in any other place in the compound, except the dane gun which he allegedly used to kill himself.

Police personnel who spoke with newsmen insisted that they were doing so on the conditions of anonymity, pleading that they were not officially in the position to speak on the matter.

The State Police spokesman, Ajayi Okasanmi, SP, could not be easily reached when attempts were made to contact him, but sources at the Police Headquarters in Ilorin said reports to the effect had not been made yet from the distant Koro town.
