The circumstances surrounding the death of a man inside a well in Offa, Kwara State, are still shrouded in secrecy at the weekend.
The Fire Station in the town in a statement signed by the station Public Relations Officer, Hakeem Adekunle, said that the incident occurred “around 19:15hrs at Ile Asaba Compound, Offa.”
He added, “After the people in the neighborhoods had discovered that there was a person trapped inside their domestic well. They quickly summoned the Offa Fire Station and thankfully, we arrived promptly at the scene exactly four minutes after the ‘turn out call’.”
He said however that immediately the firemen got to the scene, it was possible to within a couple of minutes, recover the casualty, already dead and handed his body over to one ASP Hakeem Adebayo of the Nigeria Police Force in Offa.
Adekunle disclosed that based on the information gathered, the victim’s name was Abdulfatai Taiye.
The Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, while commenting, expressed his sadness over the incident and pleaded with the general public to be more vigilant in thier neighborhoods to prevent similar occurrences in furniture.
