By Ade Adeogun

Dear God
It’s the first day of April
The onset of Spring
The day they call fools day
But God don’t make no days for fools
Because God don’t make
any man a fool

Dear God
It is a new day
A new dawn
The middle of lent
For faithfuls who are faithful
Who give up little comforts in supplication

As the trees bloom
And flowers blossom
As canopies of greens envelope the earth
And showers of blessings
Provide nourishment for the greens
As winter withered trees come alive

So shall it be
That lives would be watered
That the barren would become fertile
That days of lack would give way
To days of abundance
That shouts of laughter
Would replace the cries of despair

Dear God
Make me be April
Make me a ray of hope
Make me be sunshine
To bring light to the homes of many
And provide energy for those in need

Make me be like rainfall
To water the paths of many
To Wash away pains
And quench the thirst of the weary
To Provide nourishment
For the young to blossom
Like a lily by the river
