Public interest lawyers and human rights groups under the aegis of Lawyers for Reform Group, LRG, and Center for Human and Socio-economic Rights, CHSR, have raised concerns over the activities of some land grabbers in Lagos State.
Addressing the media in Lagos on Wednesday, tge Executive Project Director, Lawyers for Reform Group, Aare Oladotun Hassan, Esq, and President, Centre for Human and Socio-economic Rights, CHSR, Comrade Alex Omotehinse, raised alarm over alleged death threats issued against the Baale of Ilamija, in Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State, Chief Adetunji Yusuf, and Barrister Ademiluyi by some land grabbers in Lagos State.
They mentioned an alleged notorious criminal activities of one Mr Urakat Audullahi -who also uses the name, Saheed Mosadoluwa, a.k.a Ibile – who they described as a well-known land grabber in Lagos State.
LRG and CHSR also called on the acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, to order a thorough investigation into the alleged use of police orderlies for land-grabbing, brutality, among others, in Lagos State, South West Nigeria.
The two groups averred that “Saheed Mosadoluwa, a.k.a Ibile, is now threatening the life of Chief Adetunji Yusuf Hassan Fasasi, the Baale of Ilamija Village, Ibeju-Lekki , Barrister Ademiluyi, Samusideen Oluwo and Adeyinka Igbenoba.
“Regrettably, Ibile and his gang brutalised Chief Adetunji in his house and stripped him naked in another attack on peaceful communities in Lagos State by land grabbers.
“We are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, tge5 Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, the National Security Adviser, NSA, and IGP Egbetokun, as well as the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command to jointly and immediately commence due diligent investigation to prosecute anyone found culpable accordingly, including Mosadoluwa, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, Sade Gbadamosi, Treeco, Yakubu Eleto, and others who are at large.
“We are aghast to receive several responses to our clarion call against the most dreaded land grabber, Ibile, who gruesomely attacked and shot severally at Chief Fasasi Baale of Ilamija Village, Ibeju-Lekki.
“We call on President Tinubu and well-meaning Nigerians for the rescue of Chief Adetunji, as his village was not only invaded and ransacked, but he was also attacked at his residence with truckloads of cultists, policemen and beaten up to stupor by Ibile and subsequently, dragged to Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, the Oloja of Epe’s palace, wherein they stripped him naked just as they did to Samusideen Oluwo, before the public, streamed same dastard act live on several social media platforms.
“We are aware the Baale of Ilamija’s life is in imminent danger, hence our demand for a thorough investigation into the several incidences that had gone unnoticed.
“We make bold to say that this dreaded group has constituted themselves into terrorist groups terrorising the good people of Lagos State, in gross violation of the extant laws and constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria respectively.
“We are laconically insisting that justice must be manifestly seen to be done at all costs, especially in this case and that security agencies shall not continue to aid criminals because of the loot they share.
“The culprits are involved in several heinous dastardly acts of attempted murder, threatening violence, cyber bullying, gross violation of fundamental rights cases against Adeyinka Igbenoba, Samusideen Oluwo, Chinese fraud case at SFU.
“We condemn the misrepresented circulated video by one Yakubu Eleto and his gang against Samusideen Oluwo over alleged assassination. For the records, Mr Oluwo is a good and law abiding citizen, and from the video contents he was at gun point under duress after being naked and about to be killed before two farmers showed up in the forest as seen in our evidence.
“It is most ridiculous and absurd to note that no evidence of dangerous arms is found on the innocent man, but rather Ibile was the principal culprit and his accomplices, led by police officers as shown by their infamous conducts.”
