The member of the House of Representatives, representing Askira/Uba/Hawul federal constituency, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Midala Usman Balami, yesterday donated assorted bags of rice, rams and cash gifts across the Askira/Uba/Hawul federal constituency of Borno State to celebrate the Eid- el Kabir festival.
Dr. Midala is the only federal legislator elected on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, who is serving his first tenure in office at the National Assembly.
Distributing the items, the PDP chairman of Hawul Local Government Area, Abubakar Ayuba and his counterpart in Askira-UbaLocal Government Area, Mr. Achinawa Achimai said that the beneficiaries include but not limited to religious leaders, traditional leaders, party executives, women and youth, and grassroots support groups.
In an interview with journalists, the lawmaker, Dr. Midala, said, “The gesture is to cushion the economic hardship faced by the people at the grassroots, and to enable them celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir/sallah.
He prayed for a successful celebration and also admonished the constituents to imbibe the teachings and lessons of this period that encapsulates sacrifice, love and tolerance and to also use this period to pray for our country, state, and most especially his dear constituency.
Beneficiaries of this support in their individual remarks, thanked the lawmaker for his benevolence and quick intervention to be able to support his constituents just few days in office.
They prayed God bless and protect him as he serves his people in the green chamber.
In a vote of thanks, Mallam Yerima Mohammed Askira, Adamu Abubakar, and Mallam Zubairu, who are Midala’s zonal campaign coordinators thanked the member of the House of Representatives for people-oriented leadership displayed and the all inclusive approach he displayed few days in office.
