In commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, LASUBEB, on Tuesday,14th December 2021, organized a Nine-Lessons Carol service for Christian pupils in public primary schools at the Board’s Multi-Purpose Hall, Maryland, Ikeja.

In his remarks at the carol service, LASUBEB Executive Chairman, Hon. Wahab Alawiye- King, expressed that the annual interactive forum is celebrated to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ, and also foster unity and love among the pupils.

The LASUBEB boss, who was represented by a member of the board, Dr. Saheed Ibikunle, stated that the Board strives to ensure that every child’s potential is realized, through physical, mental, moral and spiritual nurturing.

Urging the learners to shun all forms of social vices in the society, but emulate the path of Christ, for it preaches love, humility and compassion, Dr. Ibikunle admonished the pupils to celebrate moderately due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country and also visualize themselves as agents of positive change in their various homes and schools.

The guest speaker, Dr. Akintunde Akinusi, who espoused on the theme: ‘Christ in Me, The Hope of Glory,: stated that the season has not only given hope, but also founded love and endurance.

He advised the pupils to live good spiritual lives, endure and conquer any form of challenge, with a determination of success.

Pupils from various Local Government Education Authorities, LGEAs, participated in the various programmes lined up for the service, including: bible quiz, choreography and drama presentations.

The winners of the quiz competition were Aniedu Precious, 1st Prize, from Kosofe LGEA; Uzor Ebere, 2nd Prize, from Ojo LGEA; and Alao Micheal, 3rd Prize, from Agege LGEA.

Kosofe LGEA also won the award for the best dramatic presentation of the year.
