As part of efforts geared towards achieving the progression of teachers as a means of rewarding excellence in service delivery, plans have been concluded by the Lagos State government to elevate 4,942 post-primary school teachers.
This was disclosed by the the Chairman, Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Olabisi Ariyo, at the promotion exercise, adding that the exercise has been scheduled to commence with a Structured Training Programme, STP, which entails both the generic and professional programmes for all categories of eligible officers between grade levels 06 -17.
The promotion exercise, she said will be handled by the Teaching Service Staff Development Centre TSSDC, Owutu, Ikorodu, between Wednesday, March 18 and Saturday, March 21t, 2020, at 4 four designated centres across the state.
The designated cebtres for the exercise are: New Era (Senior and Junior) Secondary School, Surulere; Ikeja (Senior) Secondary School, Oshodi; Awori Ajeromi (Senior) Secondary School, Agboju; and the Teaching Service Staff Development Centre, TSSDC, Owutu, Ikorodu.
Mrs Ariyo further assured eligible candidates for the promotion exercise that they have been assigned to various centres according to the proximity of each of the Education Districts, adding that adequate provisions have been made towards facilitating materials, logistics and other equipment for a hitch free exercise.
The Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, Mrs. Toyin Idowu Awoseyi, emphasised that the STP is mandatory for all eligible officers regardless of their cadres and grade levels.
Affirming that the commission will not hesitate to disqualify any officer found to be involved in any act of misconduct, like lateness or absenteeism and appropriate disciplinary action taken against such officer.
Mrs Awoseyi noted that all Promotion Eligibility Identification Slips, PEIS, have been confirmed and forwarded to the Education Districts for onward distribution to eligible officers accordingly.
