…Hints Of Possible Protest To House Of Assembly

A humanitarian non-governmental organization, NGO, Humanity Services Project, HSP, has urged the Lagos State House of Assembly under the able leadership of Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa, to take a second look at the rejected commissioner-nominee forwarded to it by the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, with a view to ratifying them for the job.

HSP Convener, Comrade Linus Okoroji, in a statement in Lagos on Sunday said that the governor is in the best position to know who has satisfied him in his first term among those he wants to return, saying, any attempt to force the governor to change his mind unnecessarily would amount to arm-twisting that may not augur well for the polity.

The statement further advised the governor to represent the names to the legislative house believing that, in the interest of the generality of the good people of the state, the lawmakers would do a thorough job on them and allow the materials the governor has forwarded, as they are the good ones for the progress of the state.

Reminding the House of the importance of the better second term the governor has promised, the NGO averred that all hands are supposed to be on deck for him to achieve his promise as a man who always walk his talk.

The NGo further appealed to the lawmakers to strive hard to ensure that the executive/legislative synergy existing in the state is sustained and strengthened for the good of the people.

Recall that out of 39 nominees sent to the House of Assembly for screening, in line with constitutional provisions, the House cleared 22 and dropped 17.

The statement expressed worries that majority of those dropped are good hands that assisted the governor to shine during his first term in office, asserting that they must have been tested and trusted and found fit for the assignment.

The statement therefore warned that if the needful is not done to the satisfaction of the group and the generality of the good people of the state, a huge peaceful protest would not then be ruled out because, according to the organization, “we would not fold our arms and allow anybody to play politics with the fate of our people.”

Among those dropped are: Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, Prof Akin Abayomi, Folashade Ambrose, Barakat Bakare, Olalere Odusote, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s Adviser on Works and Infrastructure, Aramide Adeyooye and 11 others.
