The Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has developed an anti-coronavirus hand sanitizer to contain the spread of the pandemic COVID-19, which is currently ravaging the world.
The institution through Mr. O.E Adeyemo of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology presented samples of the sanitizer to the deputy governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, who is the Chairman of the Kwara State Task Force on COVID-19 in Ilorin, the state capital.
The Polytechnic said the anti COVID-19 sanitizer was designed after realising that some of the available ones in circulation did not comply with specified standard of the World Health Oganisation, WHO.
The Rector, Engr Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, who led his management team to the Government House, explained that the Polytechnic sprang into action to assist governments at all levels in curtailing the spread of the killer virus.
He pledged the institution’s support to governments at both at the federal, state as well as local government levels to curtail viruses such as COVID-19.
The Rector was accompanied by principal officers and other staff of the Polytechnic.
Responding, an elated deputy governor was full of praises to the Polytechnic for the timely intervention at this crucial time.
He appealed to other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate this laudable gesture.
