The Kwara State Police Command have rescued unhurt, two men, who were kidnapped two days ago in Obbo Aiyegunle, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The men were rescued through communal efforts, with the hunters, local vigilante and the police tactical team stationed along the Obbo-Aiyegunle/Obbo-Ile/Eruku axis.
Kwara State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ajayi Okasanmi, made this known to newsmen in Ilorin, saying that the men, Samuel Faremi and one Emmanuel Adeyemi, both of Ilawe Compound, Obbo Ayegunle, were abducted by suspected kidnappers who invaded the town at about 8.25pm on 9/2/2022, shooting sporadically into the air.
Okasanmi said, “The speedy intervention of the police tactical team, the local vigilante and hunters eventually put paid to the murderous venture of the kidnappers.”
He added, “The hot chase and the fire power of the Police teams forced the abductors to abandon their victims, thus making them to escape into the forest with gun shot injuries.”
Okasanmi, however, said that his boss, the state Commissioner of Police, CP, Tuesday Assayomo, had called on medical practitioners in the state to promptly alert the police of any patient(s) seeking medical attention for suspected gun shots and injuries in their clinics or hospitals.
The PPRO added that the rescued victims had been medically examined, found to be fit and have been released to their families.
Okasanmi also said that the CP has advised members of the public to be vigilant at all times in their localities to report any suspected or strange movements in and around their environments to the police through the following telephone lines: 08126275046 and 07032069501.
Meanwhile, six expended AK-47 ammunition and one expended cartridge were recovered in the scene, according to the Police spokesman.
He added, “Effort are ongoing to get the kidnappers arrested for prosecution; the police in the state would not relent in making the state free of crimes in whatever nature.”
