A 39-year-old man, Segun Oni has been arrested by men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in Kwara State for defiling a 12-year old girl, (names withheld) under a mango tree.
Disclosing this in a statement in Ilorin, the NSCDC spokesman, Babawale Zaid, said that the case was reported at the NSCDC Igbaja Divisional Office, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, on the 14th of June, 2021, by the victim’s grand-father, who caught the suspect while having canal knowledge of his 12-year-old grand-daughter under a mango tree.
Zaid added that, after thorough investigation by the NSCDC, it was discovered that the victim was suffering from congenital mental deficiency, which has impaired her communication and social skills, adding that literarily, the victim hardly talks to people.
The NSDCDC spokesman added a medical report obtained from a hospital in Igbaja showed that there was penetration and some bruises were seen in the victim’s private area.
He further disclosed that the suspect confessed that on several occasions, he had lured the young girl with gifts to isolated arears to take advantage of her.
Meanwhile, Zaid said that arrangements are in top gear to charge the suspect to court after ‘discreet investigations’ had been completed.
