The governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been elected for another term of four years.
Announcing the final results of the state governorship poll, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, state Returning Officer, Professor lsaac Itodo, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, said that AbdulRazaq and his party polled 273,424 votes to emerge winner.
He beat his closest contender, Alhaji Abdullahi Yamah, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who scored 155,490 votes and the second runner-up; Mallam Akeem Lawal of the Social Democastic Party, SDP, who polled
18,922 votes.
Professor Itodo said that total valid votes was 460,497, while 10,274 votes were rejected, bringing the total number
of votes cast to 470,771 in the Saturday guber election.
The Returning Officer therefore declared AbdulRazaq as duly returned and elected governor in the polls exercise.
The governor won in all the 16 local government areas of the state.
INEC had on Saturday night started the announcement of the governorship election results, with only that of three local government sreas of Ekiti, Isin and Offa, which the governor eventually won
at the resumed announcement of the election results that lasted from Sunday morning till evening.
