A Chinese national, names withheld, who was kidnapped last Monday in Shao, in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State has been rescued.

On the day of the kidnap by gunmen, who attacked CGC Construction Company, where he worked between Shao and Oloru, a Mobile Police Inspector, Adebayo Adeforiti, was killed before the Chinese was abducted and taken into the bush.

CompassNG gathered that shortly after the gunmen abducted the Chinese and entered the bush, they met the head of Shao local vigilante team and opened fire on him, but they were shocked that their fire power had no effect on him and thereafter, took to their heels.

The vigilante team leader, who did not know about the incident before his encounter with the gunmen, only got to town to learn about what happened. He was said to be the one who subsequently organized his men and began combing the bush ever since.

However, the Kwara State Police Command, through its spokesman, Ajayi Okasanmi, SP, said, “Efforts by the police and other security operatives deployed in the search and rescue operation in favour of a Chinese citizen abducted by some gunmen on 3/7/2022 at CGC Construction Company along Shao/Oloru expressway yielded positive results.”

Okasanmi said, “The pressure mounted on the kidnappers by the rescue teams became so intense that the criminals could no more stand the heat, forcing them to abandon the victim and escape for their lives.

“Policemen and the tactical teams deployed for the operation are still in the bushes in an effort to get the criminals arrested to face justice.

“Meanwhile, the rescued Chinese citizen is currently undergoing medical examination to ascertain his state of health before his reunion with his family.”

Meanwhile, a man the police said is suspected to be a ritualist, whose stock in trade is buying, trading and trafficking in human body parts had been apprehended with a human skull he allegedly couriered from Lagos to Kwara State, while on his way to Balogun Fulani Motor Park area of Ilorin.

The man; Ibrahim Hamza, ‘m,’ aged 41 years, of Orisunbare area of Okolowo, Ilorin, was reported to have earlier recieved the human skull package from the motor park before he was nabbed by the police.

Okasanmi said, “Upon discret search conducted on him, a human skull, concealed in a carton with his name and phone number inscribed on it was recovered.

“Preliminary investigations into the matter revealed that the suspect actually procured the human skull, a horse head, chimpanzee head and other items that were recovered in his house, which he was said to have confessed that he intended to use for money making rituals.”

The police spokesman said that the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP, Tuesday Assayomo, psc(+), commended the detectives for a job well done and admonished them to intensify further investigations to ensure that the remaining accomplices in the crimes were arrested and duly prosecuted.

The CP, Okasanmi said, enjoined transport unions in the state to always cooperate with the law enforcement agencies in the onerous task of getting rid of crimes and criminality in Kwara State.
