As a way of contributing their own quota towards nation building, as well as meet up with their corporate social responsibility, CSR, to make life meaningful to Nigerians, Itel Nigeria and it’s sister telecommunication firm, Airtel, have donated gift items valued at millions of naira to students of the University of Calabar in it’s ongoing “Campus All Star Promo.”

Speaking at the ceremony at Chinua Achebe Arts Theatre at the institution’s main campus, the Marketing Manager, Itel West Africa, Oke Umurhohwo, stated that the mobile phone company had been to various campuses across the nation to market its new brand of phone – Itel P40, to students and young people, describing the mobile phone as one of the most youth-friendly mobile devices.

Umurhohwo said, “We have been to different campuses and this is the 25th campus, to promote the Itel P40, our latest smart phone, which we just launched a few months ago.

“So, we are here to talk about the phone and why it is beneficial to students and others.”

Describing the new product – Itel P40) – as the most powerful phone in the country at the moment, with a 6000mAH battery that can last for three days after charging, 7GB RAM, a 64GB internal memory storage, a 6.6-inch display and a stylish design, the Marketing Manager averred that the Itel P40 is a marathon phone that is so strong, adding that the new product is a youth-friendly device that is affordable.

In his remarks, the Head of CSR, Events and Partnership, Itel Nigeria, Taiwo Ogunbaimo, stated that with the Itel Campus All Stars, they are basically introducing their new Itel P40 phone to the students’ populace in the country.

Ogunbaimo said, “The reception is massive, we have over 5,000 students in attendance. So far so good, we are also making sales of Itel P40 and Itel A60, so the students did not only accept our brand, but also accepted our products, which we are very grateful for.

“The grand prize for today is N150,000; we also have an Itel laptop, Itel headset, and power bank. We are also giving out the Itel P40 to the students, as long as you are coming on our stage, you are rest assured that you are walking away with a gift.”

In his remarks, one of the Airtel managers, Uche Ugwueze, averred that the Itel Campus Storm that took place across the nation on Monday is organised to test the abilities of the students and to build their capacities in the area of speaking fluently and rubbing minds and exchange of ideas among one another with out any hitch.

He said, “This is an Itel Campus Storm that we are having across the country. And Airtel is here to support Itel.

“As a company, we are here to ensure that we delight the students and make sure that students are able to talk frequently among themselves.

“As a company, we are here to support the students with free Sim cards, and very affordable recharges. So, for every students that pick up an Airtel Sim card, he or she gets airtime bonus on every recharge, and also has the opportunity to use free data for the next three months.”

In his reaction, the Director of Socials, University of Calabar Students’ Union Government, SUG, Owo Michele, hailed the management of the telecommunication companies, Itel Nigeria and Airtel, for providing them the privilege to partner with them and also for holding a successful event.

Owo said, “You can see that the event is looking nice, so far, students are happy and everybody is having fun, things are smooth, a lots of takes away, drinks, with a nice weather. We are grateful to our sponsors.

“I want to say thank you to our sponsors that this event is coming in my own tenure. I feel so happy. Many students cart away phones and other gifts items items from Itel, Airtel and Smooth.”
