Once again, the Nigerian Senate has called on President Muhamadu Buhari to sack all his Service Chiefs due to their failure to ensure adequate security in the country.

The Senate resolution was a sequel to a motion sponsored by Kashim Shettima, the senator representing Borno Central, who drew the attention of other senators to the killing of over 45 farmers at Kwashabe village, about 20 kilometres north of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The upper legislative chamber also asked the Nigerian government to equip the troops with modern weapons.

Recall that the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Abayomi Olonisakin; the Chief of Army Staff, CoAS, General Tukur Buratai; Chief of Air Staff, CoAS, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar and Chief of Naval Staff, CoNS, Vice Marshal Ibok- Ete Ibas, are all overdue for retirement, according to critics of the government.

But despite strident calls for their sack, President Buhari has insisted on keeping them in office.
