…As Mrs. Oluwatoyin Morufat Dawodu’s Appointment Takes Effect From October 1
In what appears like an Independence Day ‘gift’ to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has approved the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor, VC, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, FGSN, FIHS, that Mrs. Oluwatoyin Morufat Dawodu be appointed as the acting Registrar of the university.
Mrs. Dawodu’s appointment takes effect from October 1, 2023, until further notice.
October 1 is the Independence Day anniversary of Nigeria, a nation revered and celebrated as Africa’s largest economy.
This year’s celebration is unique for FUNAAB because as members of the university community will be joining fellow Nigerians at home and in diaspora to celebrate the independence day, they will also be savouring the appointment of the new acting Registrar whose appointment takes effect that same day.
Mrs. Dawodu’s letter of appointment, dated September 25, 2023, and signed by the Vice Chancellor, reads in part, “Following the expiration of the tenure of Dr. Hakeem Adebola Adekola, the Registrar of the university and the absence of the Governing Council to complete the process of appointing a substantive Registrar of the university, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has approved my recommendation that you be appointed as the acting Registrar of the university.”
Mrs Dawodu, a quintessential administrator, is bringing to bear on her new assignment 33-year post-graduate working experience in university administration; 14 of which she judiciously utilized as Deputy Registrar in various arms of the institution to impact positively on the Registry and the entire system, at large.
Until her appointment, the unassuming, easy going and good mixer was Deputy Registrar 1, Academic Staff aand Establishment.
A product of the famous St. Theresa’s College, Oke Ado, Ibadan, Mrs. Dawodu attended the University of Ibadan, UI, where she studied Psychology and thereafter obtained her second degree in Clinical Psychology from the same institution.
Mrs. Dawodu joined the services of the university in 1990 as Administrative Officer and rose through the ranks to the position of Deputy Registrar in 2009.
In 2020, she was appointed Deputy Registrar 1, in recognition of her immense contributions to service delivery.
A former Chairman of the FUNAAB chapter of the Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators, ANUPA, Mrs.Dawodu is a member of many professional bodies; and these include the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, CIPMN, and Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, FCAN.
